Avalon's Driving Miss Daisy at Perry, Ga
Just a little bit about me. I am a 3 year cancer survivor. Before Breast cancer interrupted my life, Daisy and I had qualified for the USADAA Nationals in the Grand Prix. Due to the interupption we didn’t make it to the Nationals. But just knowing we qualifed was enough. Daisy is an amazing austrailian shepherd who is my best friend, she herds, does agility, obedience, and keeps the rest of us in line. She is my constant companion and the source of my strength. When she was 2 years old, she tore her PCL and partial tear of her ACL chasin a squirrel around the farm. This is a very rare and serious injury for a dog. Daisy went into surgery like a champ. Everything I asked her to do after surgery she did. We begin rehab with Dr. Michele Tilgman at Loving Touch Animal Center in St. Mountain. Daisy worked the underwater treadmill, had acupuncture, chiropractic and various exercises. No matter what was put in front of her she put her head down and went to work. Our hope was that she would be able to walk around the farm again. Agility was probably out of the question. We had just begun competing in agility and both of us had a lot of fun. Daisy had gotten first place at her very first trial! Well, five and half months to the day after her surgery Daisy won her first AKC Novice Title. It was so amazing I cried for joy. Daisy has gone on to win multiple titles and First place wins leading up to qualifying for Nationals. Everytime I was faced with surgery or chemo I would see her face, head down, determined, and I would do the same.
